Remote Learning Day

PTHS District 90 Back to School Plan 2020-2021

For the start of the 2020-2021 school year, we will follow our PTHS District 90 Back to School Plan.  Please refer to the above link that includes our plan to return to school for the 2020-2021 school year.  The plan includes rationale, crucial information, and actual daily schedule formats.  The above link is current as of July 23, 2020 and will be updated and revised as necessary.  

During our online registration, parents will be given the option to choose whether or not they want their child to receive remote learning or our hybrid learning model.  Both models are explained in the PTHS District 90 Back to School Plan 2020-2021.  


Parent GuideWhen Pontiac District 90 and Livingston Area Career Center utilize a Remote Learning day, the following information should be followed.  Students will not be in attendance on Remote Learning days; however, procedures have been put into place that would allow students to work from home and still count the day as a student attendance day.  Students will be required to complete course assignments from their Moodle accounts, Google classroom or as directed by their teacher, as appropriate.  All questions that are not answered on this Remote Learning day page should be directed to remotelearning@pontiac90.org 

Policies for Remote Learning Day:
The superintendent will notify families of Remote Learning Days in the same manner that traditional inclement weather have been announced in the past - School Messenger phone call and media.



Since learning is occurring for students during the Remote Learning Days, these days will count as a student attendance day.


All teachers will post assignments for courses in their respective web-based learning platforms (Moodle, Google Classroom, etc.) by 8:00am on the Remote Learning Day (or send assignments via email).  If there are specific instructions or additional information, teachers will email students directly via the student's school email by 8:00am on the Remote Learning Day.  Assignments may be a continuation of something that has already been started in class, (reading, continued work on an essay, project) an extension activity or practice with an essential skill or concept.  If the assignments include new material or content, students should have the opportunity to work with teachers upon return prior to any grades being assigned to students. 

Teachers will work with students that do not have Internet access at home to ensure the documents needed to advance in the curriculum have been downloaded to the student's device prior to the Remote Learning Day (or ensure student's know how to download documents to access offline) if possible.

If there are unforeseen circumstances that impact a student's ability to complete work (power or connectivity issues), the student needs to contact the teacher via email and/or other form of electronic communication as soon as the student is able to do so.  

Students and parents should expect that assignments per course will take an average of 45 minutes per course.

Unless otherwise specified by the teacher, the assignments posted/assigned on Remote Learning Days are due the next traditional school day.
